(English) In a case-controlled study with 471 cases, the most common risk factors for hepatitis C infection among Asian patients were blood transfusion (27%) and acupuncture or exposure to dirty needles (20%). A study was to examine risk factors for hepatitis C virus (HCV) acquisition in Asian Americans was conducted by Kin KC, Lin B, Chaung KT, et al. in 2013. For Asian patients, the most common risk factors were blood transfusion and acupuncture or exposure to dirty needles (27 and 20 %, respectively).
(English) Surprisingly, a study consisting of 5 focus groups of 23 Korean American adults with diabetes found there was stigma associated with the diagnosis of diabetes and that these patients had family conflict in managing their diabetes and would not seek family support for diabetes care.
